Portfolio Goal
This portfolio is an intentional collection of selected works across my undegraduate experience and in particular, my major, Communication & Culture.
While using the learning outcomes for undergraduate students established by both Howard Unviersity and the School of Communications, I have exhibited samles of my eforts, achievements, and progress as an udnergraduate student.
This portfolio is a representation of my best work and I have assessed and connected my work to the mastery of selected outcomes at the level of the school and the university.
The Creation of my Assessment ePortfolio
1. Brainstorm & Reflect: In order to properly translate my experiences electronically, I had to find a way to effectively display it. I reflected on myself, my academic and personal life, and how both have been influenced by my undergraduate experiences. I reflected on my name and how I believe a person's name carries meaning for their life. My name is the reason for the "photosynthesis-themed" eportfolio.
2. Collect and Decipher: After coming up with a theme, I began to collect all of my works and went through them to decide which one's will be appropriate to assess my performance thus far. I am proud to say in 3 years, I have produced works that reflect my growth and development as a student and a person.
3. Apply the Outcomes: Now that I have collected and decided what was to go into my portfolio, I selected which outcomes I have addressed throughout my portfolio (To the left is a link with highlighted outcomes that are used throughout the portfolio).
4. Execute - Trial & Error: After much mental deliberation, I began to translate my ideas to my portfolio. Yes, there was trial and error because this is the second portfolio I have started. I allowed myself the opportunity to make mistakes and correct them, in a timely manner.
5. Peer Review, Polish and Present: When I was satisfied with the artifacts chosen to implement and I created a portfolio ready to showcase to the outside world, I allowed my peers to review and offer constructive criticism. After, corrections were made. I decided to publish and submit my first ePortfolio.
