Stage 2: Taking  chemical energy and turning it into something sweet.

From stage one I learned I need to be responsible for fostering the advancement of my community. After  acknowledging my responsibility I went into action. The first step I made  was bettering  the environment that  I live in. After focusing on my environment I began working on other communities with teams of students.

Miss Slowe Hall 2012-2013
Alternative Spring Break 2013

While I was residing in the Bethune Annex,  I did not have the courage to run for Miss Bethune Annex Hall. I felt there was a self-created wall that separated myself from the other girls. I feared not being socially accepted. I had a feeling of social awkwardness that simply conquered my courage to want to participate. One of the barriers I sought to eliminate while living in Lucy Diggs Slowe Hall.

After competing and winning the title "Miss Slowe Hall," I earned an official "student leader title. In the competition, I was judged on overall presentatuon which included talent, question & answer, and platform presentation. The platform presentation required me to speak confidently and competently to a diverse audience while using nonverbal language to support my delivery.

Jewels, Incorporated

From being a student at Howard and embodying the univeristy's motto, "In truth and service," the value of service has been deeper instilled in me than it was before.

This past Spring Break, I had the pleasure of participating in Alternative Spring Break 2013 – Atlanta with our focus being bullying. It was such a great experience where we had to be “open & flexible” and constantly remember we were there for service and not luxury. Regardless, I had a great time in Atlanta and with the kids of Hope-Hill Elementary School.

As a Howard student and future alumna of the university, I am developing the knowledge, values, and skills needed to make a positive difference in civic life locally, eventually globally, and I am striving everyday to make that difference

Bethune Annex Hall
Resident Assitant 2013-2014

As a resident assistant, I serve as a peer councselor and resource person for students living in residence halls. Resident Assistants are also tasked with proving themselves as role models for the residents of the building they work in

Resident assistants are charged with the task of ensuring the safety and security of the building and residents at all times. I work closely with the community director and the Dean of Residence Life in order to provide a fun, safe, and pleasnt experience for the residents.

Being a RA has allowed me to directly work with and posivitely influence majority freshWOmen. Although the job is demanding more times than it isn't, I enjoy my job because I am someone's role model an example of how a student should perform.
